Karen Adams, LCSW
Program Director, School Satellite


Karen  Adams has worked at Kedren since 2001, where she began her tenure as a Psychiatric Social Worker in the Children’s Outpatient Program. In 2004, she became the Program Director of the School Satellite Program.
 


The School Satellite Program has therapist and case manager teams that provide mental health services at various schools in Service Area 6 for the Los Angeles and Compton Unified School Districts, as well as Kedren Head Start sites. Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and an MSW from California State University, Long Beach.



Shaun Allen, LCSW

Program Director, Children, Youth & Family Services

Shaun Allen began her employmnet at Kedren in 1998, as a psychiatric social worker in the Family Preservation Program, and in 2004 became Program Director. In 2005, she transitioned to the role of Program Director for Children and Youth Services, overseeing the Children's Outpatient and Children's Day Treatment Programs.

She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and minors in Psychology and Public Administrtion (Emphasis Health Services Administration). She also holds a Master's of Social Work Degree from USC.



Sarah Caliboso-Soto, LCSW

Program Director, Systems of Care/Children’s Full Service Partnership-Transitional Aged Youth

Sarah Caliboso-Soto began working at Kedren in 1998, in the Children’s Outpatient Department, and also gained other work experience in  Kedren’s Children and Adult Psychiatric Hospital. She is the Program Director for the System of Care, and Full Service Partnership Programs.

She has extensive experience working with adolescents in the juvenile justice system. Ms. Caliboso earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of California at San Diego, and her MSW at California State University at Long Beach.

Lisa Garcia, LCSW 
Program Director, Adult Full Service Partnership

Lisa Garcia has been with Kedren since 2001. Her first assignment at the agency was as a therapist in the adult outpatient department, and she became the Program Director of the Adult Full Service Partnership in 2007.

She has worked as a Kindergarten Teacher, a grade school teacher, and a producer for a financial news programs that was broadcast on the New York Stock Exchange. Her desire to make a difference in other’s lives led her to social work.

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from UC Berkeley, which she obtained in 1991, and an MSW from Hunter College in New York City, in 2001.


Dr. Jacob Hanaie
In-Patient Pharmacist-In-Charge

Dr. Hanaie is responsible for the day-to-day operations of In-Patient Pharmaceutical related services. In this role, he supervises all activities of the department staff, participates in the development and continual monitoring of patient drug therapy and outcomes. He develops ongoing medication usage evaluations, and participates in the establishment of critical pathways to ensure optimal medication usage. In addition, Dr. Hanaie performs patient assessments, monitors the effects of drug therapies, participates in daily rounds and provides comprehensive drug information services.

Dr. Hanaie holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a major in Psychobiology and a minor in Education. He attended USC, where he earned a Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree in 2007.

Dr. Hanaie is the co-founder of an organization called Miracles in the Making (MITM); a non-profit organization founded in 2001, dedicated to fundraising and spending quality time with needy children at various orphan homes. He also serves as the Pharmacist-in-Charge at Respiratory Care of America, in Beverly Hills.


Peggy Grace, LCSW 
Director of Education, Training & Staff Development

Peggy Grace has over 20 years experience in the Employee Assistance and Chemical Dependency fields of practice. She has developed training curricula in both corporate and mental health settings, and designs and presents trainings/workshops that enable staff to remain current and enhance their clinical knowledge. Peggy also develops and coordinates workshops for community mental health professionals delivered at Kedren. Additionally, she trains Social Work Interns from the USC School of Social Work.  She obtained her MSW from the University of Southern California.


Janis Jones, M.A., M.S.
Director of CalWorks/Clinic Director Adams l

Janis Jones has worked as the Director of the CalWorks Program for the past 10 years, providing mental health and supportive services to assist consumers in maximizing self-sufficiency and increase employment readiness skills. She has been the Clinic Director of Adams 1 since 2005.

Ms. Jones has worked at Kedren since 1970, serving as the Director of Nursing for six years, and has directed many adult programs at the agency during her tenure.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education, a Nursing degree from California State University, Los Angeles, and Master’s degrees in Psychology and Organizational Management from Antioch University.


Mary Kay Wolfe, OTD, OTR/L
Director of Rehabilitation Services

Prior to coming to Kedren, Mary Kay Wolfe held a clinical faculty position at the University of Southern California Occupational Therapy Department, where her emphasis was on developing a supported educational program for college students with psychiatric disabilities.

Additionally, she was the lead occupational therapist for USC’s Pain Management Clinic. and also helped to design and operate the Optimal Living Program for people with Multiple Sclerosis, for the M.S. society in collaboration with USC. Dr. Wolfe received her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy at USC and her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, her home state.


Mark Souris, PSY.D. 
Director of Adult Outpatient Services

Dr. Souris is responsible for the overall clinical and administrative coordination of client services in Kedren’s Adult Outpatient Department. He specializes in individual and group cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and has an extensive history in treating adults and older adults who suffer from severe and persistent mental illness.

He was a clinical instructor at King-Drew Medical Center, where he taught and supervised third year psychiatry residents. Dr. Souris has conducted research in the area of behavioral medicine/health psychology, specifically examining “thinking styles” of individuals who may be at-risk for various medical conditions including clinical coronary heart disease. He received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University.


Emma J. Conner, LCSW, BCD

Director of Social Services

Emma Conner is the Director of Social Services, and the Supervisor of Child and Adult In-Patient Social Workers. In addition to these roles, she is the Clinical Supervisor of Master of Social Work staff members, and Marriage & Family Interns working toward State licensure. She was formerly the Director of the Managed Care Program, the AB 2034 Program and the Adult Targeted Case Management Program. Emma Conner is a graduate of the University of Utah MSW Program with a specialization in Behavioral Management. She is a certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, and is a Board Certified Diplomate in Social Work. 

In addition, Emma attended the Bilingual Spanish Certification Program at Cal State Dominguez Hills, and is bilingual.


Leon Stevenson
Director of Human Resources and Payroll Services

Leon Stevenson has worked at Kedren since 2003. In his role, he is responsible for the day-to-day opeations of all human resources and payroll processing related services which includes: recruitment/staffing, benefits and compensation, performance management, employee relations, staff development, and payroll processing according to federal, state, Agency regulations. 

Mr. Stevenson has over 10 years human resources/administration management experience in the healthcare, entertainment, and transportation services industries.

Joanne Kerkman, RHIT
Associate Director of Health Information Management

Joanne Kerkman has been employed at Kedren since 2005, and her role is to ensure that the agency’s medical records are maintained accurately, and distributed in a timely fashion, to satisfy federal, state and county guidelines, while meeting clients’ medical and legal needs.

Ms. Kerkman received her Associate of Arts Degree in Business from Kenosha Technical Institute, in 1970, and her Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate from the American Health Information Association, in 1974. She has worked in the health information management field for over 25 years.

Lillian Voss, ART
Director of Health Information Management

Lillian Voss has been employed at Kedren for 22 years, working at the Kedren-West 1 location, on Adams Boulevard, in Los Angeles. In her capacity, Ms. Voss is responsible for ensuring the accurate maintenance and timely distribution of agency medical records, meeting federal, state and county guidelines, and meeting clients’ medical and legal needs.  She has been a licensed Accredited Records Technician (ART) since 1968, receiving her certificate from UCLA Extension.

Terry W. Cleveland
Director, Food and Dietary Services

Chef Cleveland’s role at Kedren is to manage, supervise, train and motivate dietary staff and line managers in the day-to-day operations of the agency’s dietary services. He develops and assists in creating all menus and recipes for patients, staff and special functions. Chef Cleveland attended the San Francisco Culinary Academy, and has ten year’s experience in heath care, with Pomona Valley Hospital, Sodexho and Aramark. Additionally, he has amassed 9 years of culinary experience with hotels such as Hyatt, Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Fairmont, Sheraton, Mark Hopkins and Sir Francis Drake.  Chef Cleveland began working for Kedren in 2005; he left for approximately a year and a half, and returned in 2007.

Ethel Rasdale
Director, Support Services

Ethel Rasdale began her career at Kedren in 1983, and has served in many capacities, including management of food services, environmental services and purchasing. Ms. Rasdale accepted her current position, Support Services Director, in 2002. She is responsible for the management and supervision of environmental services, transportation services, procurement and property management, and provides day-to-day oversight and direction to department staff in those areas. Prior to her employment at Kedren, Ms. Rasdale worked for 10 years at Central City, a non-profit agency, which was then located at the current administrative site of Kedren Mental Health Center.

Desiree Yoro Yoo, LCSW
Director, Family Preservation
MAT Coordinator

Desiree Yoro Yoo has been employed at Kedren since June, 2001, working in the School-Based Mental Health Program. She was promoted to Program Director of the Family Preservation department in October 2006, and she became the Multidisciplinary Assessment Team (MAT) Coordinator in July 2007. As the Director of Family Pr5servation, Ms Yoro Yoo serves are the liaison between DCFS, DMH Specialized Foster Care, and the various Family Preservation agencies in the service area. She manages a staff of psychiatric social workers and case managers who provide the direct services to the clients.  As the MAT Coordinator, Ms. Yoro Yoo serves as the contact person to coordinate the multidisciplinary assessments referred by DCFS, and she manages a staff of psychiatric social workers who conduct these assessments.

Desiree Yoro Yoo graduated with a BS in Psychology with a minor in Biology from the University of La Verne, in 1999. She later received an MSW from USC in 2001, with a concentration in Children and Families, with a sub-concentration in School Social Work, and received her license in 2005.


Lori McMillan
Director of Human Resources

Lori McMillan provides guidance for the effective management of staff, recruiting the most qualified candidates, and maintaining staffing levels that promote high quality services.

She manages the comprehensive benefits program for the Head Start/State Preschool Program, and ensures compliance with state, and federal employment laws and regulations. In addition, Ms. McMillan facilitates the performance management program by encouraging open lines of communication with staff.

Ms. McMillan has been employed as a human resources professional since1999, and has served as the Director of Human Resources for Kedren since 2007.  Prior to assuming her role with the agency, she was employed at GE Energy as a Human Resources Generalist, and has held human resources positions at various organizations.

Ms. McMillan holds a bachelors degree in Business, with a minor in Human Resources, and received her master’s degree in Organization Management from the University of Phoenix.  She obtained a Human Resources Certification from California State University in 1999, and in 2000, received a Professional in Human Resources Association (PIHRA) Certificate.

 

Cynthia McCall
Assistant Director, Systems Management and Compliance

Cynthia McCall is responsible for Kedren Head Start/State Preschool ’s compliance with communications, ERSEA, recordkeeping, information technology, procurement, transportation, facilities and maintenance and safety.

She also is responsible for duplication services, casualty insurance and clerical support. Ms. McCall has been employed at Kedren since 2007.

Prior to her career at Kedren, Ms. McCall worked at LACOE for seven years, serving as a Head Start Program Design Consultant.  Prior to that, she worked at Charles Drew University, serving 13 years in risk management and five years in human resources.

Ms. McCall holds a bachelors in Psychology from Stanford University; a masters in Early Childhood Education from Pepperdine, and has completed doctoral level courses in Institutional Management, also from Pepperdine. Ms. McCall is a product of the Kedren community, having graduated from Locke High School and Gompers Middle School.
